The Facts about Homelessness in Northeast Louisiana and Beyond

We now know more about homelessness than ever before, but there are still a lot of misconceptions about this growing problem in the U.S. Take a moment to learn the facts about homelessness, and what you can do to get or give help!

 

DID YOU KNOW: in Northeast Louisiana, half (49.6%) of persons seeking homeless services during the 12-month period ended Aug. 31, 2025, were children under 18, with their families or alone (1,036 of 2,089 persons).

In the 12-month period ended Aug. 31, 2025, a total of 2,089 persons sought help from a reporting homeless services providerin NELA. Of these, 1,053 were adults and 1,036 children. These persons comprised 939 households, including 466 (49.6%)one-adult households and 473 (50.4%) family/youth households. Of the total homeless, nearly one in five (18.6%) were homeless due to domestic violence.
